Venezuelan empanadas

Updated: Nov 30, 2018

Empanadas are one of the most famous foods in Venezuela. The dough is flour corn base. The inside can contain different meats, cheese or ham and turkey.

I prepared carne mechada (shredded meat) to used it for the empanadas that I made at home. After preparing a few of them I fried them; when you fry empanadas make sure the pan is in medium, that way the empanada cook in the inside and not burn on the outside.

Only use two inches of oil to cover half of the empanadas. You can fry 4 empanadas at the same time. When one side of the empanada is crispy that tells you that the side you were frying is ready, fried both side and take a look at the crisp and you will be ready to try the best empanadas in the world.

INGRIDIENTS

To make the dough use this ingredients, look at the back of the Harina Pan bag to see how much corn flower to use to make 2 to 4 arepas. Add 2 tea spoons of whole wheat flower and a drizzle of cane sugar. Set all the ingredients on a ball and add water until the powder becomes hard. Once the water is mixed with the flour use your hands to treat the dough until becomes smooth and solid.
